WordNerdPod and WordNerd Tiffany Swanson
WordNerdPod offers in-person weekly language arts enrichment sessions for middle schoolers and covers three content areas: Creative Writing; Story; and Media Literacy.
Pods will follow masking and social distancing guidelines as outlined by state and local health departments.
Pods are led by Tiffany Swanson, a licensed, vaccinated, and motivated educator with over six years experience in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). She holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (Literature and Society) from Georgetown University and Bachelors of Arts in International Studies and Spanish from Bradley University.
Tiffany lives in the Canterbury Woods neighborhood and has two children enrolled in FCPS. She is a writer, an avid reader, Star Wars and Marvel junkie, and thinks middle school kids are rock stars.

“Why DON’T you love middle schoolers?”
Ms. Swanson
She became a WordNerd shortly after getting her first library card and cannot be trusted in a library or bookstore without supervision. Tiffany has been known to read three or four books at once and to stash books around the house, in the car, and other unexpected places – just in case a reading opportunity presents itself.
Some of her favorite things to do are deconstructing sentences, looking for grammar errors in the newspaper, and thinking about how punctuation use affects a writer’s voice. She consumes all types of media and wonders about bias and language, how to manage the fake news industry, and media ethics.
Tiffany also loves movies, animals, travel, and food – American food, international food, experimental food. Pretty much all food.
Except celery.
